SynchronEyes Software Version 4.0 Offers Faster Performance and Timesaving Features for Teachers
Latest release of award-winning computer-lab software is even easier to use
Calgary, AB --- June 2, 2003 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces SynchronEyes computer-lab instruction software version 4.0 for the Microsoft® Windows® operating system. Version 4.0 is significantly faster than previous versions, giving teachers almost real-time control over all students PCs, and its intuitive interface provides teachers with quick access to many powerful, timesaving features. SynchronEyes software 4.0 includes a new file transfer feature that can be used to distribute handouts and assignments right from the teacher’s desktop. Teachers can also save time by creating and distributing computer-based quizzes in a variety of question formats, including a mix of multiple choice, short answer, ordering, matching and essay-style questions. With SynchronEyes software, teachers can even automatically collect and mark individual quizzes.
With the new viewing option, teachers can monitor thumbnail images of students’ screens in full-screen mode or inside a pop-up window, enabling teachers to work on their desktop while simultaneously monitoring a particular student. Similarly, teachers can enrich lessons by broadcasting their screen or any student’s screen to the entire class or to specific groups of students in full-screen or pop-up window mode.
"Computer labs are an integral part of K–12 schools and institutions of higher learning," says Nancy Knowlton, president and co-CEO of SMART. "With the new features in SynchronEyes software 4.0, teachers can keep students on task and completely manage classroom activities, even with all the distractions inherent in a computer lab.”
About SynchronEyes Computer-Lab Instruction Software
With SynchronEyes software, up to 80 student workstations can be monitored and controlled from one teacher’s computer using an existing TCP/IP network. SynchronEyes software displays thumbnail images of all students' screens on the teacher's desktop so student progress can be monitored and questions answered. To facilitate in-class collaboration, teachers can assign students to groups, set up chat sessions and conduct polls with automatic tallying. Advanced control options enable teachers to take control of a student’s computer to guide the student through a problem or specify shared control for collaborative problem solving. Teachers can focus students’ attention by blanking all student screens and locking mice and keyboards. They can also monitor progress without distracting students by installing the software in invisible mode on student stations. With the quiz feature, teachers can create and mark a variety of question-and-answer formats. The software will automatically calculate class averages, and teachers can save quizzes for future use.
